Megan Christie is a fine-art furniture artist living in Mundijong outside of Perth. After pursuing various careers including vet, lecturer, riding instructor and beef cattle farmer, Megan has surrendered to her obsession of designing and making furniture. Admitting it is a complete indulgence, she designs in order to create things that she enjoys.
Megan’s philosophy is to make furniture that is simple and elegant, and that reflects something of its origins. Each design reflects her strong belief in ecologically sound solutions, that beautiful furniture can be created from salvaged or recycled local timber, and that pieces should be designed for longevity.
Landscape and narrative form the basis of her art practice, with many works directly responding to her experiences, particularly the relationship between landscape and culture.
