Liz was born in South Africa and completed a Fine Art degree at Rhodes University. She moved to Perth, Western Australia in 2006 and has combined her career as an artist with that of art teacher, completing a Graduate Diploma of Education in Visual Arts at Curtin University. The two streams in her life build on and energize each other in lively ways.
Liz has always been fascinated by attempting to capture the figure in different contexts. Her recent work explore the forms of women in and around water; she has become increasingly delighted by the visual effects created by the figure immersed partially or wholly in water. The reflections created are intriguing as they abstract the body to some extent and allude to the notional aspects of our lives which are often more influential on our thinking and trajectories than the visible.
