Chester moved to Margaret River in 1980 where he became a self taught stonemason and began developing his own artistic style. Chester began to build sculptures and create art forms inspired by the little pieces of rock left over from the walls & buildings he was constructing at work.
"Working with stone is a joy. I feel a connection to the ancient rocks and work intuitively to fit them together. The experience of creating pieces of beauty with these ‘fragments from another age’ brings me closer to understanding my humble place in the eternal cycles of time."
